Amarillo Coalition for the Homeless consists of more than 40 service providers, government agencies, faith groups, businesses and individuals who began working together in 1987 to help individuals and families experiencing homelessness set and achieve goals for a better life. The Coalition meets the second Friday of each month at the Salvation Army from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM in order for members and guests to discuss issues facing the community's homeless.

The purpose of Amarillo Coalition for the Homeless is

  • to monitor community needs assessments related to those experiencing homelessness
  • to develop community awareness
  • to share cooperative funding opportunities to enhance the service delivery and funding potential, and to identify grantees for funding opportunities
  • to provide a means of communication and mutual support to agencies and individuals who strive to improve services to those experiencing homelessness
